How long will my visa take?
Processing times vary by visa, stream and individual circumstances, and change regularly. The Department publishes a global processing time guide on its website. We'll explain what to expect for your application, but we can't control or guarantee processing times.
Can I travel while my application is being processed?
It depends on the visa you hold and the bridging visa you're granted. Some bridging visas don't allow travel without a separate application. Please ask us before you make travel plans.
What happens if the Department asks for more information?
We'll explain the request, help you gather what's needed, and respond within the time given. Missing a deadline can lead to a decision on the information already provided.
